I'd go with ICQ because the kids are likely to be familiar with it
anyway, it is free, you can send voice, graphics and formatted documents as
well as chat, and the ICQ list of participants can be viewed by the
teachers. Then you can get rid of it when the project is over, and create
a new one for the next project. The tech people and ISP people are probably
not going to like that idea - I think security problems , possibly.
