replacing textbooks with laptops during our online forum running
February 8-25, 1999. Access the forum at

Textbooks be Replaced by Laptops?"
Dr. Jack Christie, former chairman of the Texas Board of Education and
author of a proposal to stop buying textbooks and instead give each
child a laptop, and Mr. William Rukeyser, coordinator of Learning in the
Real World and noted technology skeptic, will launch the online forum on
Monday, February 8 at 12:00 p.m. Central Time. They will remain online
until 1:00 p.m. to answer your questions and respond to your comments.
Continue the dialogue with your colleagues throughout the week! The
online forum will run continuously from February 8-25, 1999.
