Dear Kidlink c2d Newsletter readers,
In this issue you can read about:
1. What's Kidlink c2d?
2. What's going on in c2d during Kidlink's Annual Celebration?
3. A brief introduction and tour.

1. What's Kidlink c2d?
------------------
The intent of Kidlink c2d is that it provides a safe place for Kidlink kids
and teachers to learn, experiment, and experience the real-time
collaborative aspects that the Internet has to offer. Kidlink c2d allows
people all over the world to communicate with one another in real-time.
Kidlink c2d users:
* create and present multimedia projects.
* communicate and problem-solve.
* practice language skills.
* develop an appreciation for other cultures.
During an online tour, c2d users view many examples of the use of this new
technology. Student-generated work from a variety of subject areas including
social studies, language arts, and science is presented. Examples of
activities such as "Castles," "World Cities," "Fairytales," "Hawaiian
Hurricane" and other integrated collaborative projects.
To register, simply fill out click in the word register, read the rules,
complete the form and click the submit button.
You do need to fill in the registration form. Do remember your login and
password!
2. What's going on in c2d during Kidlink's Annual Celebration?
------------------------
We are telling fantastic tales through words in IRC, text, pictures, sounds
and animation. Please share a Fairytale, folktale, legend and illustrate it!
Please join us to add to our collection of Fantastic Tales!
C2d is available for the entire celebration. There will be tour guides
druing these hours:.

We are looking for some KidArt to go into some of the locations that do not
have pictures.
3. A brief introduction and tour.
---------------------------
Inside c2d, the area with the picture and text is called the "location" and
may also be referred to as a Hub or Node. You enter into the location or
hub: "(1) Jump Point."
The links just below the location area are navigation links.
Click Central Core
You have changed locations and are in a hub called (3) Central Core.
Notice that there are now many navigation links in the (3) Central Core.
Click Ancient Worlds.
Click Castles
In the Castles hub, click on the links to take a look at the Danish castles,
the Japanese castles, and the Danish fantasy castles by clicking on the
links.
Please take a look at all the features in c2d by running your mouse over the
buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Click the NavTree button next to the magic wand (location button) and notice
the changes in the screen. The NavTree (map) will help you navigate around
c2d.
Click the magic wand to get back to the location.
Try another button, but leave the red X alone until you are ready to
logout!
4. Requirements for smoothest running of c2d.
-----------------
Computer speed: 133 mhz or higher
Monitor display resolution set at 800 x 600 or greater.
Graphical browser version 4.0 or higher with Java enabled.
Modem speed: 28.8 or faster The IRC applet will load faster at higher
speeds.
