Adam, thank you for your interest!
The project has been in commercial use for the last few years, and I'm
currently working with a group where we are going to be using it as
part of our data storage needs for a scientific/engineering app. For
what it's worth, previous commercial apps that Schevo has been a part
of have been in engineering fields as well.
Traditionally, Schevo has admittedly been poor as far as accessibility
to new & interested users, e.g. documentation is less than complete
and there are no easily-accessible tutorials.
That said, I have recently been bitten by the screencasting bug, and
am very interested in improving the state of Schevo developer
accessibility (if for no other reason than to make things easier on my
coworkers!). So with that in mind, I'd like to invite you to stick
around and see how things evolve.
If you are at PyCon I will be here all weekend and also sprinting with
my peers through Thursday afternoon after the main conference. Feel
free to contact me by email, twitter, or the #pycon channel if you
want to meet up and see a commercial app written with Schevo and/or
would like to talk more about it.
Wherever you are though, I'm happy to respond to any questions or
comments you have!
