Hello all,

I'd like to start planning our next meeting, since it's been over
three months since the last one. A few points to consider:

* Date & time: Can we agree to meet for an hour or two during the second
or third weeks of March? If so, I'll make a poll using one of the tools
we've used in the past and we can narrow it down to a specific time.

* Where: #scheme on Libera.chat again, unless there are objections.

* Chair: Daphne has (in an email to me and Alaric) given us the go-ahead
to choose an acting chair to preside over meetings. If you'd like
to nominate someone for this role in the upcoming meeting we could
start with a quick majority vote to decide who it will be (or use
another Web poll). I'll nominate Alaric, who I believe volunteered
to be acting chairman at some point in the past.

* Agenda: This is giving me the most trouble. I'll review the minutes
from previous meetings and see what business was postponed. What
issues do we need to bring up?

Please let me know as soon as possible whether you'll be available
in the time frame I've suggested (March 8--21). I look forward to
chatting with you all soon.

Regards,

Wolfgang

We're still waiting to hear from a few more people, but it seems a
quorum (I've been asking on IRC as well) agrees in principle to a
mid-March meeting. I've made a poll for a specific time:

https://terminplaner6.dfn.de/p/18fdf78930a3d60964dfeb05391ac59f-1636125

All times are UTC. The times slots are shotgun; if everyone prefers
a slot that isn't on the poll, I can probably make it work.

We have six responses to the poll, and Sunday, March 15th at either
13:00 or 15:00 UTC is looking like a good slot--it gives us more time
to work out an agenda than having it on the 8th does. My preference
is for 15:00--17:00.

Alaric & chaw, does the 15th work for you? Arthur is sitting this one
out, so I think you're the two remaining members who we need to hear
from.

Correction: You're the two remaining members *who've expressed interest
in attending* that we need confirmation from. I didn't mean to slight
the people who haven't said anything yet about attending.

I'm sorry for not being able to respond sooner; I got stuck in figuring
out my schedule to respond to the poll. But, fortunately, March 15 is
good. Thanks for your efforts on this front!

I've done the poll! I can do some slots on the 15th, but more later in
the day as I have a first aid refresher course until 16:00 :-/

Thanks. Unfortunately, if we do the meeting later on the 15th we'll
lose Vincent.

There are no conflicts at all for the 13:00 and 15:00 slots on the
8th. Is this too soon? We don't yet have a firm agenda and would
need to put in some effort over the next 2.5 days to get ready.

There are also afternoon (UTC) slots with no "No"s on the 12th, 13th,
17th, etc., but those times have Maybes from Alaric & Peter. How
dubious are those Maybes, asp & phm?

I do hope it can be scheduled for another time (the 8th works for me), but if it can't, I'd rather that Alaric, as chair, can attend. -- v

Sorry to be a pain :-(

I can spare some time over the next couple of days, but I'm still not
certain exactly what items we should be focussing on. I'll take a look
and share what I find later today...

In my case, they are "slight dispreference as I'd have to take some time
off work"; I can and am perfectly happy to take time off work, it's just
an extra step (with a small chance of not being able to if a client
wants a meeting then).

Scheduling is always a pain. :-(

My suggestion: Let's meet on Sunday the 8th, discuss a few issues,
and try not to worry about it if we adjourn early. The main thing is
to get meetings back on track.

Excellent. I'll dig out an agenda this evening, can you pick a time and announce it if you get a chance before then, to give people some notice? Thanks!

Thanks. Let's meet around 15:00 UTC tomorrow on #scheme, then.

I have roughed out an agenda, mainly based on matters arising from the
previous minutes:

https://codeberg.org/scheme/r7rs/wiki/Agenda+2026-03-08.-

I'd recommend skimming the previous minutes if you have time, to refresh
on the discussions we had:

Looking forward to catching up with you all again!

Some things I wrote that may be relevant to the meeting:

* Raw string SRFI <https://srfi.schemers.org/srfi-267/>
* User-configurable random sources proposal
<https://codeberg.org/phm/user-configurable-random>

The random sources proposal has a survey of how random number generators
are implemented on various Scheme implementations.

The raw string SRFI's rationale has some comparisons to other raw-string
syntax proposals, and a link to a survey of raw string literals in other
languages.

Yes, thanks.  Peter McGoron, the author of SRFI 267, just published his second draft a few minutes ago.  Please take a look if you have the chance.
