Hey Guys! I love the concept of this game. I barely know anything about SQL, so this is gonna slow for me, but I'm excited at the prospect of learning (both the language and game)! Here are a few questions I'm running into already:

I am having the worst trouble getting a fleet started. I log in, and I can't even build a ship. Ismy account assigned a home planet before I log-in, thereby allowing it to be conquered before I log-in, thereby forever crippling my ability to play unless I log on and learn VERY QUICKLY the moment a ronud starts (which I read to be 1:00 AM EST)?

If that is the case, then I might suggest some sort of learning environment where small fish can practice running queries so they can get the hang of the mechanics before getting thrown into what seems to be a very large pond.

As for now, are my only two options to blitz-learn on the round beginning or to create several new accounts every day just so I can learn?

The other possible alternate situation which could be the case is that I am not even entering the correct query into the correct field. This doesn't seem likely to me, as I am using OMGTW and copying almost word for word the suggested query.
insert into my_ships(name)
values ('The Enterprise');

Thanks in advance!

Ack! Sorry for the delayed response.

Unfortunately, you are correct. Your home planet is being taken away from you before you have a chance to spawn ships. The easiest way to resolve this is to actually just create a new account. Doing so will issue a brand new planet right away. Then, as you get better, you can start to learn how to setup your original account to protect itself.

The game is all open source so some people do setup their own environments at home/work. We don't have anything setup for that at the moment but the suggestion is certainly noted.

If you have some time, come by the #schemaverse channel sometime on irc.freenode.org. We will be happy to help get you through the learning curve!

Thanks and sorry again for the slow response
