I just registered for The Schemaverse (which is an awesome concept, by the way), and I'd like to use pgAdmin to connect, as the tutorial suggests. (Also, I use pgAdmin for troubleshooting things at work, so I'm already a bit familiar with it.) Unfortunately, I'm getting the following when I attempt to connect:

FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "<my_ip_address>", user "<my_username>", database "schemaverse", SSL on FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "<my_ip_address>", user "<my_username>", database "schemaverse", SSL off

Obviously, I've anonymized certain parts of this. Is there something I need to on my end to connect? Or do I need to wait for my username to be added to an access list?

If you login to the website (either in the training wheels page or tutorial), does that work?

Once an account is created it is automatically added to the players group, which then authorizes it for remote connections. There shouldn't be a delay.

The main thing I can think of is that the maintenance database may be set to something other than schemaverse. Make sure it's not blank or set to something else other than schemaverse.

Let me know if none of that works out. We will get it all figured out :)

Logging in to the website does work. I did have the maintenance db set to 'schemaverse' (no quotes)—I double-checked that a couple of times. I left all SSL settings blank.

I'll try it again when I get home tonight.

Did you end up having any luck?

I assume the host you are using is db.schemaverse.com too right?

Another thing that might be slightly misleading is that even once it does connect properly, pgAdmin will alert you to a bunch of permission issues (just due to the nature of the game). Clearly by the error message you provided, you are having connection problems, but I just wanted to point that out so you don't accidentally think it still isn't working when it is.

Found the problem: Case sensitivity. I registered through the website as "STGGrant", but only a lowercased login -- "stggrant" -- was accepted through pgAdmin. I'm now logged in. Might be worth mentioning in the documentation. Thanks for your prompt help!
