Yes, IF you have an iPhone, you can use iOS OS X continuity to connect a Mac or an iPad to an iPhone for SMS texting (see Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Apple Watch - Apple Support). The iPad and Mac actually do not send nor receive the SMS texts, your iPhone has to do all that as it is the only device in the group that can do so. Your iPhone then shares those messages with the other devices.

If you do not have an iPhone, then an iPad cannot send nor receive SMS texts. It can still use email and carrier-specific SMS email gateways, or it can use internet based messaging services. But for a device to natively send or receive SMS Texts it must be capable of connecting to a cellular service providers voice channel network, which an iPad cannot do.

iOS and OS X Contiunity allows you to use your iPhone telephone number that is registered with your iMessage account as a message ID on your iPad - see Add or remove your phone number in Messages or FaceTime - Apple Support

THank you. In my case I had done a reset on my iPhone. In the settings, messages, I found that "Text Message Forwarding" was turned off for my Mac and iPad! I turned them on and entered the code that appeared on my iPad and then on my iMac. It now works!

I'm sorry but you are wrong! I am now getting text messages via Wifi connection to my iPad and my iMac. I am able to use iMessage to send and receive these messages. I'm using MACos 10.12.3 on my mac and iOS 10.0.2 on my iPhone and iPad! The iPhone connects via AT&T, the iPad and iMac connect to the iPhone via WIFI.

The key was enabling "Text Message Forwarding" on my iPhone for the two devices! It now works perfectly text, pictures, everything. And yes, I use iMessage as the interface on the iMac and on the iPad.

If you need or want SMS/MMS texting, then you need a cellular telephone with voice and text service enabled. Those services explicitly require a cellular voice telephone connection, and always have (It is inherent in the very nature of what an SMS text is that it must be sent over the voice bandwidth connection). There simply is no such thing as an internet or cellular data based SMS texting service.

SIgn out of iMessage on your iPhone then sign back in, make sure both devices are signed in with the same Apple ID. Uncheck the email on your iPhone in 'You can be reached by', close Settings then reopen settings & check the email again.

Reset your iPhone holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears then let go & wait for your iPhone to boot up. Now see if text message forwarding is showing now.

These steps worked with my 6 plus. After I unchecked my email on phone a screen came up asking if I wanted to enable my iPad to send and receive messages. I checked yes and then a screen came up on iPad with a code to enter on iPhone. Once entered everything synced perfectly and able to text to anyone via iPad. WooHoo!

Yeah, this would be amazing, I use this a ton for my Zendesk replies but often when I am on the subway and am working on the go and I know I have a textblaze response I won't respond to a ticket until I get to the office because I know that clip is much more effective than anything I could type out on my phone

Agreed, I paid for a premium version just because I wanted to support the author even for the part that is just the Google Chrome plug-in. The solution works great. With the exception of the way the text shortcuts work because they are always conflicting. So I just use the context menu.

I would change to a paid plan if there is an Android version!! It makes no sense for my workflows just to use Text Blaze only on my Windows PC, not on my Smartphone, not on my Tablet PC. I am changing the devices all over the day. It disrupts my productivity very much!! Why must this be?

A small version of this functionality is part of the Microsoft Swiftkey keyboard for Android. I have used it for years, even before they were acquired by MSFT. It is in the clipboard feature - you pin text and give it a shortcut... when the shortcut is typed, the expansion is predicted & entered. I'm new here, I'm recreating my Swiftkey shortcuts here to see if I can get Android functionality on desktop Chrome!

As for desktop and mobile versions, I assure you they are high on our to-do list. If you'd like to see Text Blaze on other platforms too, such as Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, etc, please tell us here: Text Blaze for other platforms

thanks I tried this. they receive it but no luck getting an answer back. i realized that it goes beyond android users so maybe that's why i'm having larger issues. i can't get any texts from my bank or email. So it's texts in general.

I already tried reseting network connection, hard reboot, turning imessage off, airplane mode for a minute, confirmed data connection is on, turned off cellular in settings and back on, Latest ios firmware and have the latest visible app. still nothing. Ticket open and escalated so hopefully that will get it going.

I had a similar issue when I switched from an iPHone 11 to an iPhone 14 - I could text iOS friends and I could text Android friends, but I could not receive texts back from Android users. After much experimentation, what worked for me finally was:

I had a similar problem after switching from my iphone 11 to iphone 14 (both under visible). I could text and receive from my iOS friends, but I could only text (but not receive) from my Android friends. After much experimentation, what worked for me was:

I have no idea if this is intended for some reason or just a bug and I'm not 100% sure when it disappeared because I very recently got a new phone and it's possible my old phone had a much older app version. But I have noticed it in my version 10. 51.1

I used to have a strikethrough and a highlight option in the app on the same "task bar" (circled in included screenshot) that has bold/italic/underscore etc. But now it isn't there any more. My current options are some AI thing, bold, italic, underscore, font, checklist and text position (not sure what this is called but you can center text or have it line up on the right side instead of the standard left). But no highlight or underscore. And I think that's really a shame because it's a feature I use very often.

It's not super-convenient, but this is how v. 10 includes all the formatting capabilities of the desktop and Web apps, which were not available in the older version (v. 8, I think). I got a new phone earlier this year, and finally was able to install v. 10. It took a minute to find where things are, but it was worth the time poking around in it. BTW, on the "front page" of the formatting tools, with the + button to insert things, the Aa, B I U, etc., if you scroll the B I U area to the right you'll find the buttons to increase/decrease indentation of paragraphs.

Ah thank you! I could have sworn I checked this menu and didn't see it but now I double checked and it's definitely there lol. I had only scrolled to the side and that only had some more text formatting stuff. Sorry about the unnecessary post!

@Mark Debets, that is not the current Evernote Android app, or an older version of it either AFAICT. It looks a little like a blend of the Android app with an older version of the Evernote Web interface. I'm not familiar with the boox note 3, but I gather it is based on an older Android OS, so it will not run current Evernote apps. So honestly I'm not sure what you've got going on there. How did you install Evernote on the boox?

That could be. I tried all kind of keyboard settings, but for now nothing worked. I also contacted the Boox helpdesk. Hopefully they have a solution. I bought this device because it has an Android operating system. And because of its compatibility with Evernote.

I think it has something to do with the UI Boox is using on top of the Android OS. I tried almost every setting, but no results yet. On my android phone its working well. I wish there was a setting for putting the menu bar on top of the screen, like in my browser.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra running the latest Android 13 OS. I need to export dozens of conversions from my Samsung phone to Windows 10 computer. I can directly access the photos when I connect the phone to Windows 10 via USB cable but there is no way to find the messages.

First things first, if you have the 'Samsung Smart Switch' software on your computer, that might help. You can back up your S23 Ultra using the software, and while you can't directly read the messages from the backup, there are tools online that let you extract and view them. Bit roundabout, but hey, it works!

TunesBro DroidGeeker - Here's another great thing I've been using at the moment. It's a paid tool but does the job smoothly, allowing you to view and save your messages directly to your PC.

If you've just got a few really important threads to save, go to the message thread on your phone, tap the 3-dot menu, and select 'Save as file' or something similar (might vary depending on the Android version). Then, just email that file to yourself and open it on your PC. It's a bit manual, especially if you've got tons of messages, but works in a pinch!

I've used SMS Backup & Restore in the past. Super simple. It lets you backup your messages in an XML file. Once backed up, you can transfer this XML file to your PC. Now, for reading them on your computer, you might need another tool to convert XML to a more readable/printable format, but there are loads of online converters that can help with that.

Just a heads up, whenever you're using third-party apps, especially for something as personal as text messages, always check out the permissions they're asking for and read some reviews. Better safe than sorry!
