Dear SCGIS Community,

Perspectives on GIS Capacity Challenges and Opportunities for Land Trusts and Conservation Organizations

April 22, 2026 3:00-4:00 pm Eastern / 12:00-1:00 pm Pacific

Land trusts and similar organizations include a large network of conservation practitioners that pursue critical efforts for habitat conservation, water resources management, agricultural preservation, community engagement, and much more. However, many of these organizations lack dedicated GIS staff or may have limited knowledge of, or access to, data and tools to support best practices for conservation planning, storytelling, and other land or water resources management efforts. Leaders from the Genesee Land Trust, the Open Space Institute, and The Conservation Fund will discuss capacity challenges and explore potential solutions, including an emerging Conservation Consortium, that seek to bridge capacity gaps where needed the most.

Speaker Line-Up:
  • Lorna Wright, Executive Director, Genesee Land Trust
  • Neil Jordan, Sr. Director of Geospatial Strategy, Open Space Institute
  • Jennifer Blattman, GIS Manager, The Conservation Fund

This webinar is open to the public, please share with your network!

We look forward to your participation!
