Dear Colleagues,
It is time for our next internal workshop. We have scheduled it for the 18th of April, Saturday. The theme of this workshop are talks/presentations that fit into one of two categories.
1) A tutorial-style presentation of a methodology or a set of related tools. The idea is that this should serve as a pitch to other group members, working across different domains, of the potential
that the discussed tools have.
2) A domain-centric presentation of a problem. Talks coming from this quarter should ideally motivate a problem that could elicit new and interesting methodological approaches to solving the problem.
We already have Prof. Arun Tangirala, who has consented to give a talk in the first category, and Prof. Sridharakumar's student will also be presenting (I am guessing in category two). Please email
me if you or your graduate student would like to give a talk.
The last time we discussed this, we were looking at between 3-6 talks, each lasting 30 minutes to an hour, for an overall duration of 3 hrs. I will send out exact details as more people volunteer for
talks. For now, it makes sense that we plan each talk for 30 minutes.
I will also follow up with details on venue and exact time. Please confirm participation (you and your research scholars), and let me know if you would like to make a presentation.
Regards,
Nandan
