Yes, I do understand that the red focus square shows us where the camera locked focus, but I guess I'm expecting to have it lock onto the eye since that's where the blue EyeAF square was observed. Interesting and perplexing at the same time. Perhaps I expect too much?
Now that experience is different from what OP had posted but I can confirm that I have experienced OP's description as well i.e. blue box showing the eye in focus but then the red box was in between the eyes.
It is on MINE. That's all I know. If my blue box is showing locked on and focused the resulting shots I'm examining are all in focus just as it was indicated when I was shooting. I don't know what all this ballyhoo is about regarding the red box vs. blue box. I don't run into that.

As a little further clarification; many of the images in the media library also display as a blue box/question mark. I have just tried to upload a new image to the media library (72ppi, 600 pixels longest length) but it only shows as the box/question mark.
I know that this could be done by \hrefwebpage address(My Text) but this generates a blue box around the text. I don't want to see the blue box around, just when the user moves the mouse cursor over it, I want to show the hand cursor - and then the user can click to visit the link.
