As science and technology advances, the number of high technology-related crimes rises. The Executive Yuan proposed an amendment in January 2022, resulting from the preparation of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.
How do I programatically restrict and unrestrict access to certain apps on iOS with swift? I have seen other apps like freedom and ourpact do this by using a profile, but I'm not sure how they do it, and there are no tutorials online.
Update: on the android app I clicked on options and under settings I clicked upgrade. I then upgraded my APs, they restarted, and then I logged back into the app. I clicked on clients and then clicked on the "showing online clients" text and selected blocked and done. Then I had to swipe down to refresh and clicked on the blocked client. The app now gave me a red filled block button and allowed me to unblock the client.
Tech leads are responsible for helping drive the high-level architectural discussions regarding the work that the team is doing. They lead design meetings and tech breakdowns. They ask questions and try to poke holes in ideas to ensure that edge cases are covered.
Your teammates will often look to you to offer advice or provide direction when the path forward is uncertain. Software engineering is full of tradeoffs as you weigh short-term and long-term consequences of technical decisions.
Note on the questions regarding writing tests for the legacy project - do it. Even if it involves a super old tech stack. Once the tests are good, coverage is sufficient and integration is running you can refactor with confidence or even make breaking changes it just gives you muchore opportunities than without the tests since you never know without tests WHERE (not if) regression is introduced.
For the distinction between "tech lead" vs. "lead developer", it honestly probably changes from company to company. I guess you could say they're the same thing. Or maybe in some companies a "tech lead" would have more of an emphasis on project management whereas a "lead developer" would have more of an emphasis on the architecture. But even then, I don't think I've ever seen a company that has both "tech leads" and "lead developers", they just pick one term or the other.
Probably another article is needed, here I see only one side of the coin (do not misunderstand, well written and I absolutely agree), but I think the other side is complicated and not clear to everyone, especially when tech leads are the frontier of Tech and after there is only management with the figure of the product owner equivalent to water in the desert
Welcome to AARP Maryland's Tech Tip Tuesday! A monthly tech tip blog created by Communications Intern Henry Kenney III.
Learn how to turn off location services and to block phone numbers.
*Note: These tips are applicable only to iPhone.
Did you know that certain apps on your smartphone devices can track your location at all times? Some apps ding where you are only when you open it. Of course, this raises some questions about privacy and safety. However, there are some pros of having location services turned on. Say you lose your phone, using someone else's cellphone, you can easily track your phone and find out where it is. Let's say you're on the phone with emergency services, triggering an emergency SOS will send location information to your emergency contacts at the end of the call. A con of having location services on is increased data usage. Certain map apps constantly track your location so that it can provide you with details about your commute home or to work. This means it is constantly connected to the internet. High internet usage on certain carriers and depending on your wireless plan can accrue unnecessary charges.
If you're uncertain how an app is using your location, be sure to read their privacy terms and agreements. As for Apple, they don't sell or use your data to benefit themselves.
After all of this and you're still a bit weary and want to turn it off, I'm going to show you how.
Step 1 - Go to your settings
Step 4 - Go through the list of apps you would like to turn "Location Services" off for. Or you can turn it off for every app on your phone. However, if you're like me and use apps that give you directions, tells you the weather, or lets you tell friends where you are (like Facebook, Instagram) I would keep it on for these apps in particular so that they remain fully functional. You have the option of having it track your location "Never", "While Using the App" and "Always". Depending on the app, the options may vary.
Everyone is getting spam calls nowadays. If you aren't careful you could be a victim of a scam or fraud. AARP has a ton of resources available to you that can help you combat fraud and scams through their Fraud Watch Network. To help you combat them, I'm going to show you how to Block Spam Callers (or that one annoying neighbor). Keep in mind, any calls from blocked numbers will not alert you until you unblock them.
Step 1 - Go to the "Phone" app
Staff Software Engineers excel in both leadership and technical expertise. You may begin to consider deep specialization in a chosen field (go deep) or continue to broaden your overall expertise (go broad). You exhibit a high degree of ownership with relentless member focus and can drive large-scale complex initiatives where the solution is ambiguous and uncertain.
You are a trusted partner for management and can define a technical roadmap out over multiple quarters. Your contribution over time leads to less complex systems, more reuse with consistently lower maintenance costs, and consistently improved SLAs within a given area. You routinely partner with other related disciplines such as SRE, QA, and Infrastructure. You can map out and deliver solutions that span multiple teams (again within a given domain).
You are ready for the next level when you begin to develop critical insight around longer-term technical strategy and investment. When you successfully influence business outcomes at a large scale through strategic technology investment to benefit multiple product lines, you are ready to contemplate the next step...
As a Principal Engineer you think big and may be called to take up special assignments that fall outside typical delivery for example; determining the feasibility of an innovation or concept. Although coding is likely NOT your primary function at this level you are still hands-on and can dive deep to implement new ideas or blaze new pathways as needed. This may lead to intellectual property filing and patent issuance (although all levels are eligible to create new intellectual property). You may also begin to get involved in M&A activity and know how to evaluate the strategic value of technology assets.
It also provides the opportunity to coach and work with different stakeholders at different levels, including key stakeholders who don't understand the technology. Becoming a manager for a year or so will make you a better engineer. Explaining to others who dint understand the technology well will make you think about how you need to understand the topic well enough to teach it
Congratulations - you\u2019ve reached a major milestone as a Software Engineer III and whilst further growth is possible (and likely) many people have highly effective careers that never progress beyond this level. That holds true of the remaining levels. They are all potential positions you may dive deep in, without progressing upwards and still have a fruitful career in technology.
Your knowledge of the ecosystem and industry combined allows you to see opportunities in the future that might improve the team\u2019s delivery or reduce the operational overhead of the team's software. You can anticipate and avoid risks and your input is sought out and included in the technical roadmap for your team.
A Senior Staff Engineer is working across several teams consistently and guiding multiple initiatives simultaneously, keeping multiple plates in the air while also focusing and anticipating the road 1 to 2 quarters ahead. You can anticipate the needs of the organization and map these back to the team\u2019s situation and plan accordingly ensuring the team is well positioned for success. You are opinionated but not dogmatic and capable of driving consensus through data and diplomacy. You are a true partner for your management team and able to balance driving down technical debt and other tough choices with prioritizing new feature development.
