Youcan block a contact to prevent them from calling you, sending you instant messages, and seeing your presence status in Skype. In addition to blocking a contact, you can also choose to report abuse. This notifies us of spammers, so we can stop them in the early stages of their activity.
Note: If you receive an unwanted call from an unknown phone number, you'll have the option to block the number right from the chat. Simply select theBlock +the numberlink to block that number.
Note: If you block someone who is in one of your groups, their messages will still be visible in that group. You will need to remove the participant from that group to stop receiving their messages. However, if it is a moderated group, you may not have permission to remove them.
After you add a new Skype or Skype for Business contact from another organization, if the contact ignores the request to add you to their contacts list, that contact will be displayed as offline in your contacts list.
In Skype for Business Online, address book and GAL lookups are performed through web requests only. The Skype for Business client doesn't download and save a local copy of the address book. This reduces the load on the servers, and it provides the most up-to-date information possible when you run a contact search.
In the notification area on the right side of the taskbar, locate the Skype for Business icon, hold down the Ctrl key, right-click the Skype for Business icon, and then click Configuration Information.
The message that you receive from Internet Explorer indicates whether the URL can be accessed from the computer. If you can't access the URL, this indicates there's something blocking communication to or from the URL, such as a firewall or proxy:
In rare cases, the contacts list may be corrupted because of an invalid character in an "out of office" message or because of a lingering deprovisioned contact. To resolve this problem, force a contacts list update to make sure that your information is synchronized. To this, follow these steps:
I have my skype privacy settings defined to only allow IMs from people in my contact list. I also have this set for calls/video, etc. And yet, almost every morning when I boot up I have a conversation request from somebody I do not know. Shouldn't these settings block these requests? Is there a way to actually only allow IMs from people in my contact list in skype that works?
yes, a request to exchange details can include a reltively short introductory message and, yes, to a large degree, these messages LOOK like normal IM (especially if you collapse the upper section of the conversation window), but they are not
if your privacy is set to accept IM only from people on your contact list, this new user cannot send you any more regular IM, they cannot call you, they cannot send you files, and they canoot see your profile details or your online status
This is default behavior with Skype. Unfortunately if they limit friend requests, they would render the tool unusable for some users. This is annoying at times, however a some point your contact info will get purged from the spammers lists if you fail to respond.
Luckily, a new Xposed module from developer Mathias Nordskog will finally put an end to this major annoyance on Android. With this one installed, all contact requests from unknown senders will be blocked and denied by default, so you'll never be bothered by Skype spam again.
First up, head to the Download section in your Xposed Installer app and search for SkypeAutoblock, then tap the top result. From here, swipe over to the Versions tab, then hit the "Download" button next to the most recent entry. Within a few seconds, you'll be prompted to install the module, so tap "Install" when you see this screen.
When you get back up, no further setup is needed. From now on, all contact requests will be blocked and denied by default, so you'll never see a spam or bot message again. If you have Skype installed on any other devices like your PC or Mac, the auto-deny feature means that your computer won't show the contact request notification either, except for a brief moment if there's a slight delay before the Skype client on your second device refreshes.
If you'd like to add a new legitimate contact, this mod can cause some problems, as you won't receive the contact request notification. So if you want to add a new contact, you can either initiate the request yourself, or temporarily disable the module to allow the other person to send you a contact request.
To do that, just head to the Modules section in your Xposed Installer app, then un-tick the box next to SkypeAutoblock and reboot your phone. Then, once you've added the contact, make sure to tick that box again and reboot to block future spammy requests.
Not everyone needs to have access to you, and Skype helps you make sure of that. You can block people from calling or messaging you when they cause you discomfort, harass you, or you don't like them. They don't have to be on your contact list. As long as you can navigate to their profile, the option is there for your convenience. There's a slight variation in how you use this feature on different devices. But overall, it's simple.
Update the Skype app on your computer or mobile phones and tablets to access the latest changes. If you don't to deal with updates, use the web app. Microsoft's developers continuously improve it for peak performance and security. Here's how to halt communication with someone on Skype using any of the platforms.
When you block anyone on Skype, they can't call or send you messages. The contact moves into the Blocked contacts menu, which is accessible from the app's settings. Skype doesn't notify them of your actions, so they'll never know.
They may suspect that they've been blocked as your active online status becomes invisible until you unblock them. Also, they can't view your information, such as your profile picture, biography, and when you were last seen on the app.
The block feature applies to anyone, from your contact list to strangers you search for in Skype's user directory. It doesn't stop unfamiliar people from reaching you in the future. If you don't want them calling you, adjust your privacy settings so that only contacts can contact you.
You can visit someone's profile and block them. If they're not on your contact list, search for them in the public directory and do it. The web version or downloadable PC app gives you an expansive view, but the mobile app is quicker. Whichever method you prefer, here's how to block people:
You may be an easy target for spammers and advertisers. A simple search is all they need to find and interact with you. You can restrict your phone from ringing when they call. Skype only notifies you that you have a missed call when you open the app.
Blocking people is the best way to end all communication on Skype. That doesn't stop them from contacting you on other social media apps where you have accounts. A nicer alternative is muting them. When you mute people on Skype, they can call and message you. You don't see or hear the notifications, especially if they're way more enthusiastic about conversations than you.
Forgive my ignorance, as I don't have an apple device or use facetime, but is there no whitelist/blasklist feature or settings to enable that prevent unwatned callers to contact you over facetime? Even skype has simple options for friends only lists and blocking feature for contacts you don't know or approve of.
Don't apologize I appreciate the time you took. I do have a block caller (which is now being used). However, I still had the suspicion of investigating who it was. If anyone has an idea of how to go about that. Somehow cracking their password and getting in the email or IP address list of the devices or locations the email has been accessed from? Something anything to pin point their identify to an extent a thing least.
logging or hacking into their stuff probably not a good route to go, but, you can always try engaging them in conversation and social engineering them to email you a pic or something similar, that gets you something from them, or, engage over your own web service like setting up a temporary site you ask them to visit and chat with you over or such. There are ways to go about it, but you have to be cunning and get them to do something they normally wouldn't do. Does facetime let you share files like skype? maybe even get them to use skype, and if you own your own domain, upload a pic, and then send them the link. If only they receive this like, check your logs to see who accesses the image(aside form scanners of the service you send over - skype scans all links posted over which will show on your logs. same with Twitter in a DM for example, will see them show on your access logs).
