"AI is already transforming healthcare, and it is critical that best practices are followed with testing, deployment and evaluation of AI solutions. For Solutions Studio, Mayo Clinic Platform developed a rigorous, proprietary qualification process to evaluate digital health solutions and ensure they are fair, appropriate, valid, and effective," says John Halamka, M.D., president of Mayo Clinic Platform and co-founder and board chair of Coalition for Health AI (CHAI).

"Solution developers typically need several years and millions of dollars to bring a digital health solution to the point of care. Solutions Studio will accelerate the rate at which these solutions can be developed and implemented, enabling better patient outcomes, higher operational efficiencies and a lower cost of care," says Steve Bethke, vice president of product portfolio, Mayo Clinic Platform.

"There is a lot of excitement around the transformative potential of AI in healthcare, but it will only be possible if providers have the tools necessary to demystify and use AI responsibly in clinical care. As founding members of CHAI, we created guiding principles that are the foundation of Solutions Studio, enabling innovators to bring qualified solutions to life quickly, while helping providers access high-quality solutions they can trust," says Sonya Makhni, M.D., medical director of solutions for Mayo Clinic Platform.

Clinical collaboration through the Mayo Clinic Care Network provides health-care organizations access to world-leading medical expertise so that they can provide patients more of the care they need, close to home, at no additional cost.

The Mayo Clinic Care Network is a select group of carefully vetted independent health systems that are granted special access to Mayo Clinic's knowledge and leading medical expertise, all with one goal in mind, providing patients the care they need close to home at no additional cost. At the core of the network is clinical collaboration. Mayo Clinic and Care Network physicians working together, consulting and sharing resources to complement local expertise and enhance the delivery of care. Let's take a closer look at some of the clinical tools and services.

Ask Mayo expert is a database that offers quick point of care access to standardized practices on hundreds of medical conditions. Accessible anytime, AME can be used to help determine the need for tests or referrals in non-urgent cases. The online tool includes care process models, clinical trials information, and patient education. Care network members have accessed more than 2500 patient education materials that provide a consistent and patient-centric way of teaching, informing, and empowering patients to learn more about treatments, conditions, and healthy living.

When providers have a specific question regarding their patient's diagnosis or treatment plan, they can request an eConsult. A Mayo Clinic specialist will review patient information and provide a formal response electronically, allowing providers to keep care close to home at no additional cost to the patient.

eBoards are live video conferences that connect providers with a multi-disciplinary panel of Mayo Clinic specialists to review and discuss complex cases, making it easy to share expertise regardless of physical location.

For hospitalized patients in need of urgent to semi-urgent intervention, inpatient telephone consults allow providers to connect with a Mayo Clinic specialist in a timely way. Complex care often requires medical experts for more than one specialty. Care Network providers can refer a patient to Mayo Clinic and stay informed and involved through direct collaboration. Our experts work together to provide comprehensive care for patients with even the most complex conditions, providing a seamless transition when the patient returns home to receive care from their local provider.

While many network tools are centered on individual patient care, healthcare consulting is about organizational improvement. Members can target clinical, operational, and business goals with the guidance and support of Mayo Clinic professionals. Mayo Clinic promotes in-person and online group and individual learning through collaboratives, conferences, symposia, and webinars. Additionally, members have access to more than 200 educational courses and conferences with CME potential each year. Fix-It Austin builds community and educates residents about the value of repair and reuse. Repair keeps items out of landfills and decreases the need for new, raw materials to make products. You can help Austin reach our zero waste goal by 2040 by learning how to repair clothes, appliances or electronics. You can also find a local repair business and support our local economy by visiting the Austin Reuse Directory.

Fix-It Clinics are free events, open to the public. We request you do not bring large appliances like refrigerators or washing machines. We cannot guarantee that the volunteer coaches will fix your broken items, but coaches do their best to give you next steps for the repair of your item. If you have any specialty parts (such as fabric or buttons), please bring those with you.

Some Fix-It Clinics offer the option to drop-off your broken item at the clinic host location in the week leading up to the clinic. Upcoming clinics will be listed on the righthand side of this page. Check the event listing to see if drop-off is being offered.

Fix-It At Home! is a series of online repair workshops that teach household repair skills, like how to sew (by hand or machine), fix a bike or a pair of shoes. Classes are interactive and taught by local instructors. Learn from the comfort of your home by watching clips of our previous Fix-It At Home! classes.

A tool library is available at Recycled Reads to check out a variety of items. You must be a member of Austin Public Library to participate. Membership is free to people residing within the city limits and select jurisdictions outside of city limits. Examples of tools include:

Are you handy with a hammer? Skilled with a sewing machine? Educated about electronics? We are always looking for individuals with repair skills to become Fix-It coaches. Fix-it clinic coaches work with attendees to guide them in fixing their broken items. Fix-It Clinics are educational events, so teaching repair skills is your primary role as a volunteer.

We are looking for community partners to expand repair education in Austin. Consider becoming a Fix-It partner to host your own Fix-It Clinic. We'll help guide you and provide resources to plan your own event.

Nursing workflows often uniquely encompass a fast-paced, continuous, and wide-ranging scope of activities, potentially involving several patients and hundreds of tasks.
