Hi All

I am stuck with a peculiar problem w.r.t. my SCDL exams. I am a
student of
PGDBA (HR & CRM - dual specialization) from 2008 batch 'Civil'
category. My course validity
will expire on 30-Jun-2012. I have completed all my exams and
assignments except one i.e.
Financial Management paper.

Actually, when I had the 2nd attempt exam for Financial Mgmt, I
reached the exam centre late
due to some unavoidable circumstances on the way and as per their new
system, the exam
attempt was locked if not attempted within 30 mins of scheduled time.
So, the 2nd attempt of
Fin. Mgmt paper was left.

Meanwhile, my problem is that I would have to leave for onsite (USA)
within next week on
long-term official assignment of around 1.5 to 2 years. So, this was
my last chance to clear
the exams from India. As I cannot re-book the exam slot for this exam
again before the next
month (as results are out by 10th of next month), there is no way I
can give the exam before
leaving for abroad.

I had called up SCDL helpdesk 2-3 times explaining my situation, and
they have given some
contradictory responses:

- Once they said over phone that I should apply for grace marks for 1
subject (9 grace marks
reqd.), but when I had sent the query over mail, they replied in
writing that grace marks
will be given only when validity period is over. Again, when I called
up the helpdesk
regarding this, they said that validity period will not matter and I
should just send the
grace marks request.

- Also, when I enquired about whether I can give this one exam from
abroad, by paying the
exam fees (as applicable from abroad), they said that I cannot give
the exam in this way.
Also, since only one exam is left, converting to NRI category by
paying Rs. 60-65K also does
not make sense.

Under such circumstances, I want information regarding the following:

- What exactly is the policy for grace marks? In my situation, can I
get grace marks from
SCDL? If they do not give grace marks, I would not be able to appear
for any further
attempts for this exam as I will be out of country. In that case, my
diploma will be left
halfway.

- Is there any provision/ policy of giving a single exam from abroad
without converting to
NRI category? Has anybody faced such situation?

Any help/ pointers/ suggestions regarding this will be very helpful,
as I am very tense
regarding this. Also, you can give any suggestions regarding what I
should do in such
situations.

Thanks
Anamika
