I have run some dataset of pflotran, and found that some problems may put a large data in *.tec and .h5 ,sometimes may be 40G+, did I have to save all of  the *.tec and *.h5 and hand in them, or only hand in the *.out?

Zhou,

I need to talk to some of the other SCC organizers to decide what an
appropriate level of IO is for the competition. You will definitely need
to be able to store some of the .h5 files. I am not sure about what the
frequency with which they are written will be. I will get back to
everyone about this soon. You will not need to generate the .tec files,
which contain the same information as the .h5 files but which cannot be
written in parallel.

To turn off the generation of the .tec files, remove or comment out
(preface with a ':') the line that reads

FORMAT TECPLOT BLOCK

To reduce the frequency at which output files are written, you can modify
the line

PERIODIC TIME 0.02 y

Above, it is set to write output every 0.02 years of simulation time. You
can increase that when you are playing around with things.

Best regards,
Richard Mills

Richard,

Thanks for your suggest, and another question I want to ask. the output include kinds of document, such as *.chk , *.out , *.tec(if I don't remove the FORMAT TECPLOT BLOCK), and *.h5, which kinds are necessary for the competition except the *.tec ?

You will need to save the .out files and you will need to use the .h5 files to produce visualizations using VisIt.  The *.chk files are checkpoint files that you may want to keep around so that you can restart a run, but they will not be used in judging.  One problem (we are finalizing the problem sets today) may require you to solve a steady-state problem, write a .chk file, and then restart a transient problem using that .chk file.

Best regards,
Richard

I want to ask that if I sepearate the whole run in many parts with restart files, it will rewrite a .out file when using a restart file. Should I just keep the last .out file or I need to keep all the .out files and rename them?

   Thanks a lot!
