Hi Jessica,
Visualization is part of the interview scores and can help to show your
understanding of the applications. For some datasets/apps, it might not
be practical or interesting to do a visualization. For these cases, you
can choose not to include a visualization, include some other eye candy
that helps explain the application, etc. No specific visualization has
been requested for QMCPack, for example. This doesn't mean you can't
include something, however. Visualizations are important to scientists
for communicating scientific results in the literature and in
presentations and this is basically the idea for the interview component.
If you have specific questions on visualizing a certain app, go ahead
and ask on the mailing list for guidance.
