Hi Everyone,
Did you know that collecting plastic waste near coasts rather than in the oceans is the most effective way to reduce plastic pollution?
Help us do just that on Clean Up Australia Day: UQ students and staff
and members of the local community are invited to help clear rubbish
along the riverbank at St Lucia.
Date: February 28, 2020
Time: 3-5 PM
Venue: Corner of Sir William McGregor Drive and Thynne Road, St. Lucia
Bring
a water bottle closed shoes and sun protection. Gloves can be provided for anyone who can't bring their own, as well as cold water.
This event is hosted by the UQ Sustainability Office, the Centre of Marine Science, Marine Society UQ, the Society for Conservation Biology UQ Brisbane Chapter, UQ GEMs and the UQU Environment Collective.
Just after the clean-up, SCB UQ-Brisbane Chapter have organised a butterfly walk along Sir William McGregor Drive. A butterfly expert will help in spotting, and identifying butterflies and teach us how to use the new 'Butterflies Australia' app.
We hope to see you all there.
Cheers,
SCB-UQ Executive Committee.
