Hi SCB Brisbane,
Wondering what you can do for our shorebirds on World Migratory Bird Day? Consider joining BirdLife Australia and BirdLife Southern Queensland at Toondah Harbour on Saturday May 11th. Details below:
This Saturday May 11 BirdLife Australia and BirdLife Southern Queensland will be celebrating World Migratory Bird Day by creating a human chain on the mudflats at Toondah Harbour (meeting place GJ Walter Park) to draw a human line in the mud. This event aims to draw attention to the local, national and international opposition to the Toondah Harbour development on our internationally recognised Ramsar wetlands.
We need at least 100 people out on the mudflats to deliver the message in the links provided. Hundreds would be better!
A film crew working on a documentary on the global concern for the conservation of shorebirds will be at the event. They have many scientists talking with them. What they do not have on film is a flock of passionate of people involved in a serious action of advocacy to protect a Ramsar site and its Critically Endangered migratory shorebirds.
People should arrive by 08:00. Low tide is at 09:00. Please see the links below for more details. People participating need to wear wellies or old footwear!
