"Micha Jackson
Board Position: Member-at-Large
I am a highly motivated conservation practitioner passionate
about achieving improved environmental outcomes through evidence-based
research. I have engaged in wildlife research and monitoring in
Australia and overseas for more than a decade. I have extensive
experience in science communication in the formal academic sphere and
through products aimed at research end users, project collaborators,
communities and the public. I have been a member of SCB since 2012, and I
served as President (two years) and Vice President (one year) of the
SCB UQ Brisbane chapter from 2016-2019 while completing my doctoral
degree on shorebird conservation. In 2019 I joined the SCB Global
Chapters Committee as one of the Events Grants Coordinators. I have
attended multiple SCB conferences, most recently the 2018 SCB Oceania
Conference in Wellington, New Zealand, where I organised a symposium,
presented my research in an oral presentation, and presented a poster
about the SCB UQ Brisbane chapter. I am eager to diversify my
involvement in SCB by serving in more wide- ranging roles, and feel I
would be very well placed to further strengthen relationships and
communication between SCB global, SCB Oceania and SCB local chapters."
