Hi everyone,
This Thursday evening the Society of Conservation Biology Brisbane (SCB) along with UQ GEMS (Geography and Environmental Management Society), Oxfam UQ, UQ Veg Society and The Environmental Collective are happy to be holding a screening of the Netflix documentary Chasing Coral. The itinerary will go as follows:
Thursday 21st of March in the Steele building, room 206.
5:30pm – Networking and social
6:00pm – Screening
7:30 – 8:30pm – Panel discussion (which of course we hope attending students and staff will get involved in).
Our amazing panelists are Dr Carissa Klein, Dr Eddie Game, Professor Justin Marshall and Professor John Quiggin (researcher profiles attached). It should be an exciting discussion about coral reef threatening processes, economic considerations, political reflection, social issues, and ways to move forward.
It would be great to invite friends from a variety of backgrounds so that we have a discussion from different perspectives.
The event is free, and there is free popcorn as well if you bring your own bowl (but $2 if you don’t), and if you aren’t yet a member of one of the societies hosting the events, it could be a good opportunity to sign up!
