Hey, this is a long shot but has anyone ever come across this kind of issue before in an Ubercart build? http://drupal.org/node/375019

Basically when you have heaps of options attached to a product, it won't submit the form - it just refreshes the same page. (See my comments toward the end under 'afestein'). It actually works on my MT server but breaks on other servers. My best theory is that it's trying to do massive database JOINs and the server craps itself / times out. Have tried tweaking all sorts of settings with no luck.

If anyone has any ideas let me know. I'm at a point where I will probably have to get a hired gun to help out because I'm out of my depth. Someone offered to help this morning for $180 per hour - ouch.

i have seen this ages ago --  i think
it IS because of what you say about the large amount if data but I think
its "post size" not just mysql crapping out

I canot remember how or if I fixed it … sorry to be of NO help

OK thanks for your input. There don't seem to be any errors in MySQL so you might be onto something with the 'post size'. I'll keep plugging away.

Don't think it would have anything to do with the data size. It should handle a couple of Gb in a single transaction. Do you have access to MySQL / apache logs?

Bingo - I found the source of the problem.

max_input_vars was set to 1000 on the server, whereas Media Temple doesn't have a limit set. Nothing to do with MySQL at all then.

Happy happy joy joy!
