Dear Somerville Media Center Friends,
SMC continues to closely monitor the City and State responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. In service to the community, we’ve committed to sharing any breaking emergency news as it relates to Somerville on SCATV Ch 3. In light of the latest steps taken with regard to the Governor’s office and the City of Somerville, we have made the decision to keep the Somerville Media Center closed through the end of April.
This decision is the outcome of an internal assessment of our procedures for how SMC interacts with the public, coupled with the desire NOT to contribute to the uncertainty around whether the public and staff will be given the “all clear” at a sooner date. Should circumstances change, it is possible to alter the time table.
Immediate implications include the cancelation of SMC’s UNEWS April Vacation camp for youth. For those who have yet to pay, please disregard any pending invoicing. For those who have paid, or made partial payment and desire a refund, please make arrangements through Heather McCormack (617)-628-8826 Ext. 6.
Despite our closed status, SMC will continue to share this kind of emergency information as quickly as possible - not just on our TV Channel, but through SMC’s additional media avenues.
We encourage you to stay posted with SMC, as we continue to explore ways to remain engaged with and provide information to the Somerville community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via email or call (617) 628-8826.
Sincerely,
Brian Zipp, Executive Director
Joe Lynch, SMC Board President
