UNews-Remotely!
Though SMC remains closed to the public through the end of May, we are excited to develop new, innovative ways to provide modified youth media programming remotely. As such, we are going to be piloting a remote version of UNews, our youth journalism program for ages 9-13, next week! This program, which runs from April 21st-24th, will contain a morning module from 9:30-11am and an afternoon module from 1-3pm. Youth will participate in both modules, which will contain a combination of large group discussion, journalism instruction, media production instruction (how to interview, how to film stories at home, how to edit using remote software) and a collaborative group project. Youth will need internet access, a smartphone, and access to Zoom to participate. The program is FREE for youth who receive free/reduced lunch and suggested donation of $100 for other youth, though we are happy to work with your budget.
