Hello, I'm posting this to the "Original" MV group as well as Don's new sdme64 forum below until it gets  some more traction !

ScarletDME 64 help ! I've went ahead and built an Ubuntu 22-04 VM and loaded DME with the most recent installer and it went without a hitch !

I have a small application that was written in BASIC running on a Linux Mint 18 Server with QM 3.o. Nothing QMClient wise just in BASIC. I backed up the app via tar and moved it to the DME Server and layed it back down. I quickly setup some F-pointers for some data files to do a quick check. When I do a list statement on the File it doesn't error out but just shows "0" Records. Same with listing the Dict.

Is there some kind of conversion or option to salvage the files, structure, etc...without having to re-create them. I know there are probably file structure differences between commercial version and this,  as Don had suggested to me.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,
Izzi

Does it work with 32DME?

There are known 64-bit conversion issues. Personally, I've been hit by a
case sensitivity bug - comparing lower case does not appear to work.

It's known that code compiled under 64bit won't work on the 32bit version.

So it's possible it's nothing to do with OpenQM, and everything to do
with 64bit glitches.

Let us know what you find, if my plans at work come off, I'm going to
have to QA all this stuff :-)

Cheers,
Wol

Actually, never tried 32DME, went right to 64 to just try and play with.
Where can I find the latest/last 32DME ?

Pull Gene's git repository, and do a 32-bit build. I think everybody's
playing with 64bit, so you might hit a glitch or two - come back if you
do - and see how it goes.

There's something dodgy with "make install", but that's probably 64bit
only, so all being well it'll work fine.

All this stuff is nice, though. It means we're getting close to the
final hurdle, and people are using Scarlet. That's great news ...

I also want to get the 32bit build for ScarletDME. Let me know what you find. My hardware for this experiment should arrive around the 2nd week in Dec. I currently use the commercial 32bit version of QM running on 64bit Rocky Linux 8. Works great!! I need the 32bit version because I use Coyote web server for html processing. Been using it since around 1996. It is a wonderful HTTP 1.0 compliant real time web server (never been hacked). Runs totally within QM.
I currently use LAQP (Linux,Apache,QM,PHP). I run CentOS or Rocky Linux 8. Very stable servers. QM takes very little resources.
I have run Coyote on 150 phantom ports for thousands of hits per day. Quite solid and scalable itself.

On the Rushflat Consulting site:

They have a tar of the source for the 32 bit version.  You can also try github.

I have no interest in the 32 bit version, so I have not made a one-step installer for it.  You would have to install a 32 bit version of Linux (hard to find now), or install the 32 bit libraries on a 64 bit version. However, making a 32 bit version of the installer is probably trivial.  I may try using a 32 bit version of Debian 12 in a VM.  I'll let you know.
