The original program is open sourced under GPL v3, but asks for a fee to use it. I did not pay for it, but I'd like to share the no-fee version I compiled with my college friends (obviously under GPL v3). Can I do that?
However anyone who obtained the binary of a GPL-licensed programme legally, is entitled to receive the source code. And the GPL license allows to make modifications as long as they are clearly marked and attributed and the modified version does give credits whom credits are due (thus copyright notices must be retained, but can be ammended).
Thus if you obtained the source code under a GPLv3 license, you are totally allowed to modify it, use it in compiled and/or source form as you see fit. You can also distribute it as long as you abide by and fulfill your obligations as stated in the license itself, namely to also make available the source to your modified version at least upon request to the recipients of your modified binary version.
Mind though, just because a previous version of a programme was licensed and distributed under GPL, does not mean that the currently-distributed version by the original author is distributed under GPL. Whether or not a license change is allowed depends on who holds the actual copyright.
A famous example where a license key restriction was introduced in GPL-licensed code is rhodecode which hence was forked under the name kallithea which removed the license restriction introduced at that point and kept the programme free and open-source. Since then, rhodecode reverted its decision at least partially.
This doesn't make any sense. If the program was distributed to you (in either binary or source form) under the GPL, then you have a license to use it without paying any kind of fee. Once the software has been licensed to you under the GPL, this permission cannot be revoked unless you violate the terms of the GPL.
All rights granted under this License are granted for the term of copyright on the Program, and are irrevocable provided the stated conditions are met. This License explicitly affirms your unlimited permission to run the unmodified Program.
You also have a license to distribute said changed version of it to whoever you want without paying any sort of fee, so long as you continue to license said distribution under the GPL (same version or newer) and preserve the copyright notice. If you distribute a compiled version of it, you're required to also make the source code available to whoever you distributed it to, also under the terms of the GPL. These rights are covered in Sections 5 and 6 of the GPLv3 (or Section 4 if you're distributing a verbatim [unmodified] copy.)
So, in short, yes, you can modify it to remove the part asking for payment and you can additionally distribute the modified version of the work - in either source or binary form - to anyone you want, so long as the distribution remains under the terms of the GPLv3 (or newer.)
Sir i am an user of H.P, hereby to arise a situation with my laptop, recently it was diagnosed by wifi problem in which a local laptop store dealer installed a cracked version into my existing original version of windows 10 single home language, i wanted to ask you that is it possible to bring back to original version, if it is please help with this situation as soon as possible sir, the local laptop dealer said that if you update it your laptop will take much time to boot, so i took no risk to perform any action to it sir.
You can reinstall Windows 10 on the notebook and it will activate automatically once installed and connected to the internet as the product key is in the firmware of the machine. Here is a small guide.
Download media creation tool from Microsoft on PC , run and create a bootable pendrive with the OS on it. (there is an explanation on the Microsoft web page on how to create the pendrive). Create the drive with Windows 10 Home 64-bit edition. Windows will automatically activate once installed and connected to the Internet.
If you choose this option you will need to use the pendrive to perform a clean install of Windows 10. You might need to disable fastboot and secure boot in BIOS (probably not). So, insert the pendrive in the PC and turn off the PC by holding the power button. Press the power button and immediately keep pressing ESC until the startup menu appears and then press F9 and choose the pendrive in the boot menu. Once it boots from pendrive follow the procedure to install Windows.
When finished installing allow Windows to completely update and find all or most drivers. You can follow this process by going into settings > Security and update > click on Verify for updates. You might need to reboot a couple of times.
Once completely updated you can go into device manager and see if there are any missing drivers (there will be yellow exclamation mark next to the device). You can find these drivers and software on HP support page for your product.
Your notebook should be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will install the original W10, the drivers and the software that came with your notebook.
We have license for both perpertual and subscription. The one we had is autocad Lite version, where autocad full version is trial version. We are using trial for testing the extra function in full version.
They are saying software that is no longer installed, was cracked? Unless you uninstalled it just before the audit (when you where made aware it was going to happen), i cant see how they can say anything like this. My suspicion is that there is more to this story though.
Wtf? There is good feedback above but who do these guys think they are rolling up on your turf making demands? Lolol I assume this must be corporate led or law enforced? Either way I would bend over & tell them to kiss my anus! Smooches!!
My guess is what possibly happened is the trial was installed it was used for the trial period then some months later it was uninstalled. Possibility 1 the uninstaller triggered a phone home. Possibility 2 it was launched said it was expired then uninstalled that would of caused it to phone home.
As mentioned above if they want to claim it was a cracked version of the trial software ask them for their phone home logs. If there is a log of it being a trial version then it was probably not cracked because usually they block or redirect the phone home.
If they say no then get a lawyer or say legal is asking for it. Then it goes nuclear and you will need that lawyer or they will drop it and say oops our bad and you send them a invoice for 1,575 (just for the irony since that is the price of an auto Cad license).
They assumed the trial version is a cracked version, not a trial version but they cannot find pirated serial number (for licensed unit, we have a series of serial no ) or keygen. we uninstalled long before the notice of audit.
I had an issue with W10 that said it was a fake copy. after some reactivation scripts it accepted my key was genuine (and had been for many years). Might not be the same as your issue, but could be similiar.
This almost sounds like a marketing lead scam. Where when you install the trial license, it asks you to register. That registered information is then forwarded on to a local distributor to follow up with a marketing call to sell you on the software. But it sounds (to me) like the local distributor has taken it to another level as to tell you, you installed a cracked version of the software (with no evidence of such) and you must pay a penalty as well as purchase the software with a subscription.Since its been so long and the software was uninstalled at the end of the trial there is no way for you to prove otherwise.
Hello all. Haven't posted anything in a while about an app so here goes. The latest update to Trivia Crack wiithout adds is totally been overhalled and totally hard to use with Voiceover now. You'll find 4 tabs at the bottem in the following order. The dashboard tab, events tab, factory tab, reals tab, and the shop tab. I can't nor my wife can't find the current trivia matches/games we have going with each other and other people. If anyone can figure this out I'm all ears and coment away on this forum topic. Now in the reals tab the questions their are videos by real people and believe it or not those are accessible with VO. You hear what sounds like mostly celebs and others who post a video question and you have to choose the correct answer. That's all I've got. Not sure if they've changed the UI in the free version. If so let me know. I'm curious to know.
What is the factory tab/how do you make videos? I probably won't try this now, but post to the developers about your issues. Also, how do you create video questions/can they be on anything? This might be useful for studying in school, of course with similar responses to what could be on standardized tests/in-class ones, too. Is it only for graduate level students--the questions, I mean/how much time to respond and how to do so?
