Myremote control is not work. I found the battery was wet and has leaked. I would like to open the case to clean it up. I have removed two screws on the bottom, but could not open the case to get to the circuit board. Any guidance would be appreciated.
This is a general guide on how to do it. It applies to most types of remote controls. Once the screws (if any) have been removed you need to separate the two halves of the remote. These are usually held together by small plastic clips.
In the video a small screwdriver is used to pry apart the two halves along the seam. I have found that if you use an old plastic credit card that you can achieve the same result especially if you start in a corner near the IR LED light. By using the card you will cause less cosmetic damage to the plastic case.
PLEASE FIX Remote not working with Pioneer Receivers.. Please don't ask to go through any procedures to try and diagnose the problem it is a known problem with Samsung TV's and numerous ppl are having the same issue.. RU8000
I have a Samsung 4K Q60R QLED TV and a Pioneer receiver (VSX-515V) that I use as a home theather. The receiver is plugged to my TV through an optical cable. Everything used to work perfectly until I updated to the latest firmware, AND reformatted my TV. After the re-format, the volume on the remote never worked again....same errors as mentioned by others. Samsung obviously messed something up with their update relating to the pioneer IR code datebase.
Now for the fix. The issue seems to be with the Pioneer IR code database so just find a receiver, that is NOT pioneer, that uses the same remote IR code as your receiver. I used this site " +controls/setup/questionsone/122842.htm" and found that the brand "WARDS" uses the same IR code as mine (RCA, Optimus, Magnavox, Capetronic, ADC, and Yamaha all seem to have IR codes that may overlap with some of pioneer's too). I then followed the procedure on my TV again for linking my remote, but when asked for the brand just searched "WARDS". The first attempt failed but the second "WARDS" code it used was able to power off my receiver as expected. It now all works fine again!
I want to say thank you it worked perfectly.. I thought about this lastnight and did try it but I only went through the Receivers that are listed in the didn'menu.. I didn't realize there were more stored codes that could be accessed via the search.. Once again you were a big help and I sure appreciate it..
Thanks for the solution. I have a similar setup. Samsung Q80R connected to Pioneer VSX-1021-K via optical. I connected all my devices (Fire TV and Blu-ray player) directly to my TV and able to control using TV remote. after facing hdcp error and UE22 I decided not to use HDMi connection between my TV and Pioneer and instead using optical. I am
able.to control the volume of the pioneer with Samsung remote. But when I turn off the TV power the receiver power is still on. How can I setup so that the TV on/off control both the TV and receivers power? As a last resort I can use universal remote, but would like Samsung TV remote to work. Please help!
I'm having the exact same issue with a VSX-323 and trying different manufacturers (Wards, RCA etc) does not solve it for me. The Pioneer manufacturer actually works in the Universal Remote setup page where it power cycles perfectly when it asks the question "does the Receiver switch on or off" (as does WARDS manufacturers and some others) but when it comes to power cycling the REceiver when I power on/off the TV, nothing happens... So it works on the setup page but not when the setup is finished and you want the feature to work for real.
Has anyone else had any luck getting their Siri Remote to control the volume of their Pioneer Receiver? I have the VSX-819H. The Apple TV (new one) sees the receiver, but it doesn't control the volume. I've tried adding it as a new custom device, and it still doesn't work.
I have a VSX-1120 connected to an TV4. Initial set-up default settings activated the volume control for my AVR. Not sure what adding a "new custom device" may have done but I recommend you check the "Remotes and Devices > Control TVs and Receivers" setting to confirm it is "On" at this time.
Thanks. I tried that, and the receiver is "on", but no luck. I also tried to add the receiver as a "custom" device, but that only improved the situation slightly (meaning that if you click volume up or down about ten times in the Siri remote, the receiver *maybe* goes up and down on level. Not a sustainable solution.) When I have the Siri remote control the TV volume, there's no problem. There appears to be an issue with the way the Siri remote's IR deals with the receiver's IR. I wonder (hope) if this can be resolved with a software update?

I also have an old Logitech Harmony One purchased and programmed years ago for use as a "universal all-in-one" home theater remote. Both it and the original Pioneer controller can still be used directly with the receiver just as the older, but limited, TV3/2/1 controllers still work with the TV4.
Not sure. As I indicated, I'm using HDMI Control "On" with "Auto" (HDMI) Volume settings on the TV4. Also using an older LG 3D HDTV model "just as it came out of the box." Only control problem I've noted is that if the AVR is on and i put the TV4 to sleep, it only shuts off the receiver. If the receiver is already off and I put the TV4 to sleep, then the HDTV turns off automatically. On the other hand, if I "wake up" the TV4 then it turns on both the receiver and the HDTV. Since this works for me and I already have other remotes that still work with the receiver, I haven't tried messing with the IR volume control settings at all. Sorry I couldn't help more.
I will try and do a pull request to add the fix to the official component, but in the mean time you can try this. Let me know if it fixes your issue and your VSX model number, so I can update the documentation of affected models.
Hi Snowboardy, I have a VSX-2021. Now I am able to switch it On. Thats great. Thanks!
When source selection is set to true, it shows only HDMI 1 and BD. So I am missing quite a list of sources here. Is your code reading this from the receiver or do you need a list of sources so you can change the sources for this model? I should I just use source selection->false?
I have a vsx-1131. Is there any way to control the listening mode on this receiver? I keep having to hunt for the remote to change this or do it through the iControlAV app but it would be great to be able to do it through homeassistant or even Alexa.
BUT, once I push that final OK, the remote no longer controls the Volume. IT still works for on/off, mute, input, but NOT for volume. Somehowe volume was working before I pushed the final OK to finish the programming, but once I push OK the remote forgets how to control the volume (but still works of on/off, mute, etc).
I tried lacticacidtrip's suggestions, but ran into an immediate problem - when I push TV and Fios TVbuttons together, the remote does NOT flash twice. I tried it with both the TV button and the STB button since the instructions said use the TV button but it looked like the right button was highlighted and that is STB on my control. Nothing.
Did you ever get it to work? Are you setting volu,e controls to "Fixed' or "variable' I've tried both same thing happens except the box controling the volume from the STB is "fixed" at max, the bar will decend down but the volume doesn't change until you hit zero then the sound goes off.
I'm afraid I can't help you make the remote work as I don't have any more suggestions than the ones I listed above. MarkR has yet to log in since I posted my suggestions, so I don't know if he had more success.
