Auto Deskew not working

I got the auto deskew to work fine on b&w 600ppi docs yesterday, but attempting the same on the same docs in color 300ppi and the auto deskew does nothing.

(I saw rave reviews of this product but I'm seeing little apparent response to issues on this board which makes it pretty useless.)
