to scantail...@googlegroups.com
Hi,
first thanks for Scantailor, I use it frequently !
At the university, I receive weekly hand scanned pages of books, with big black borders, and tilted writing. The quality is so bad that OCR would never work.
I have been using Scantailor to rework those files to clean pdf that can be printed without wasting lots of ink, most of the time two page by side on the back and front (to save paper!).
I still prefer paper to write notes on it and beside, I can bring them during exams as reference work, so tablet reading is no good.

However, the process to extract images from the pdf, run them to scantailor and then assemble a new pdf is not optimal.

I'd like to suggest to add to scantailor options to get pages from pdf, process them and export it again with a few clicks.
Using imagemagick or gs could be possible. If I remember, gs gives smaller size pdf, while imagemagick adds lots of features.

Bonus:
- On large documents, using multitasking to perform operations on multiple page could make it faster.
- A default operation tab could apply transformations automatically (autodetect?) as soon as the pdf is opened, saving time and just wait for a review of the final product before exporting to pdf.
- Batch preprocess a few pdf and just wait for final review before exporting to pdf.
- Imagemagick tab to perform per page specific transformation, ie convert to grayscale, black/white ...

Thanks and keep the good work.
Jonathan
