Dear all,

It is my pleasure to distribute the registration form for the upcoming 17th Postgraduate Symposium in Old Norse Studies at the University of Bergen. The symposium will be held 13th-16th April (three days of papers, plus one day of excursion to e.g. a local museum).

At the symposium, postgrad students can present on their projects or recent research relating to Old Norse. The symposium is an opportunity to get feedback on current projects or present completed work and research. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet peers in the subject.

Holding a presentation is open to postgraduate students who have completed a BA, and are usually studying for an MA or PhD. However, everyone is welcome to attend. Those who wish to attend without holding a paper are also asked to register, as are accompanying staff. We do not currently have a conference website due to a restructuring of the UiB website, but that should be available shortly.

The registration deadline is Friday 27th March. However, it is perfectly fine (and preferable) to register ASAP and send an abstract and title to me later via email (Helen....@uib.no).

The symposium is free to attend and we can also cover lunch and refreshments for speakers and accompanying staff.

To staff: please distribute the registration form to students you think may be interested in presenting and/or attending, they are welcome to contact me with any questions.

In some cases, if someone wishes to participate but cannot travel to Bergen (since we are unable to fund travels), I may be able to arrange holding a paper online. It is primarily an in-person event, however. In such cases, please contact me before registering.

We hope to see you in Bergen in April.

With best wishes,

Helen Leslie-Jacobsen

Associate professor in Old Norse Philology
