Scality is a storage software developer, whose main product, RING, enables cloud storage to easily scale up to exabytes using commodity server hardware with direct attached storage. SCOP is Scality's Open Source program, a project unveiled in September 2010 at SNIA's Storage Developer's Conference (SDC) in Santa Clara.

Within this program, we have released an open-source library called Droplet, allowing developers to easily use underpin their application's storage needs with Cloud services. It is a very streamlined library including all that is needed to handle online storage: simple and uniform storage mechanisms, usage statistics (number of objects stored, in and out bandwidth) and billing information (configurable per storage provider). The aim for this library is to be a complete abstraction layer between applications and online storage providers of any sorts. It relieves developers of having to deal with different protocols, and lets them care only about storing information, knowing it will be accessible in a uniform way for any applications using libDroplet as an abstraction layer.

We have also called out to developers to use their skills and LibDroplet to develop extensions to existing applications and/or all new applications to promote Cloud Storage, offer more versatility and flexibility to the end-users, and obviously promote our products.
