Dear all,
I'd like to know if all Scalismo functionalities (like GP regression used in reconstruction from a h5 model) are implemented In Statismo.
My idea is to create the model with Scalismo and then use this produced h5 model in Statismo in C++.
Is this possible ?
Best regards,
Maia

Dear Maia

This is technically possible. The two packages share the same format.
However, please note that statismo is currently unmaintained and the burden of maintaining it is rather high. This is something your company has to take into account.when making a decision.

We found that the combination of thrift and scalismo works really well in practice and we have deployed it without problems in several industrial settings. It is, however, a bit out of scope for the discussion here on the mailing list.
In case you need help with deploying a scalismo application using Thrift, I would like to refer you to shapemeans (https://www.shapemeans.com/). They can give you professional advice and support your project.

Best regards,

Marcel

Dear Marcel,
Thank you for the advice.
In fact, some of our apps already use itk and vtk, that's why I asked the question. When you said maintenance, do you mean about integrating itk and vtk themselves ?
I will pass the information about shapemeans to my company.
Thank you for the information.
Best regards
Maia

Dear Maia

I meant with maintanance that there is nobody who takes care of the library itself, such as to maintain the buildsystem, fixing bugs, making sure that it works on all platform, upgrading to new c++ or ITK or operating system versions, etc.

Best regards

Marcel

Dear Marcel,
I understand. I tried to build Statismo yesterday and I miserably failed (1400 warnings and 1 error that make all stop).
I will have a serious look at Thrift.
Thank you again.
Best regards,
Maia
