Hi,

I am having a trouble with turning the image that I generated from basel-face-pipeline to 3D face. Is there any way that I can use to register what I have from the pipeline to a 3D mean face? or Can I have a 3D view of my data?

Under the result folder, I have "fit-best.rps, fit-best.png, fitter-lminit.png, fitter-lminit.rps, and target.png". Which one I could use for 3D face reconstruction?

And thank you for the model. It is an excellent job which helps me a lot!

Best,
Xiang Li

Hi Xiang Li,

the fit-best.rps file holds all parameters and can be used to reconstruct the 3D face.
The easiest way to do so is to load it into the Basel Face Model viewer
Load the exact same model as used for fitting, load the rps file and export a ply
If you need to do it for multiple images all the code needed for that is contained in the model viewer

Let me know if you need more finegrained help on this

Thank you Bernhard Egger,

I've cloned the repo. But it says it is BFM 2017 viewer. Is that OK I aligned my image with BFM 2019? And The viewer doesn't say how to load model. I am sorry to have such many questions. Thank you again for your reply.

Best,

Hi Xiang Li,

the viewer can handle all versions of the Basel face model.
The easiest way is to download not the source file but the jar file under release. You can find the link and instructions how to run it in the repository.
When you run the jar file it will first let you choose the model file

Thank you Dr. Egger,

The viewer does work for me. However, I am wondering that is there any way I can remap the rps file back to a mean 3D mesh or to be more specific, remap the rps to a obj file I got from 3DMD device?

Sincerely,
Xiang Li
