Dear users of Scalismo-Faces

We are happy to announce that our free
open online course on  "Statistical Shape Modelling"
  will start again on the
18. February 2019 on FutureLearn

https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/statistical-shape-modelling

It is followed-up by the
3rd Summer school on "Probabilistic Morphable Models"

03. June - 08. June, 2019, Basel, Switzerland

http://shapemodelling.cs.unibas.ch/pmm2019

In our open online course we will present the theoretical methods used at the core of Probabilistic Morphable Models. The focus lies in statistical shape modeling, using the unifying framework of Gaussian Process Morphable Models (GPMMs). GPMMs make it possible to understand many classical models and algorithms in image analysis, such as Active Shape and Appearance Models,  Spline-based methods for non-rigid landmark and image registration, as well as non-rigid ICP approaches, in a unified theoretical framework.

Although in the course we will use the Scalismo software to illustrate the theoretical concepts, all the same concepts are also readily available in statismo.

In the one week summer school, which is targeted to researchers from both the computer vision and medical image analysis field, participants learn the basics of probabilistic model fitting using Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods.

The practical part is offered in two tracks: Participants work under the guidance of experienced researchers on a project in either of two application areas:

  • Face image analysis (analyzing 2D photos)
  • Medical image analysis.

The summer school and the open online course are free of charge. Admission to the summer school requires participation in the online course and the completion of the corresponding course project.

Best regards,

Andreas
