Hello all,

I was trying to do some depletion calculation with ORIGEN. Since my material contains Polyethylene, which should contains Hydrogen ID of 9001001( according to the mixing table generated by MAVRIC)

However, it seems that ORIGEN cannot recognize this ID, can someone suggest what ID number should I use? Is it valid to just use normal Hydrogen ID?

Thank you,
Zeyu Chen

Hi Zeyu,

Thermal moderator nuclide IDs (e.g. 9001001) are just arbitrary IDs used for uniquely identifying a nuclide in SCALE data. The only difference in the thermal moderator data and the fast evaluation is the thermal scattering, s(a,b), and Bragg Edge, reactions that are not used by ORIGEN. So, ORIGEN only needs ZAID of a nuclide. Use 1001 instead of 9001001 (same way for all thermal moderators).

Cheers,
Cihangir
