Suspicious email from "scalenews"

I received a suspicious email at my work email address:

The email identifies as "scalenew...@email.ornl.gov", and the title is "confirm ..." where ... Is some alphanumeric string.

In my email editor, the sender is given as "scalenew...@email.ornl.gov". The email mentions that my membership in the email list "scalenews" (to which I am subscribed) has been disabled due to excessive bounces. There are then two links to https://email.ornl.gov/mailman/... .

The email also mentions a password..... 

Has anybody received a similar email? 

Is the domain "email.ornl.gov" valid? IIRC all emails come from @ornl.gov, not @email.ornl.gov, but settings my have changed?

Hi Willem,

The email.ornl.gov domain is correct for scalenews, so no worries there. I will see if we can figure out what is happening with your email. Could you send an email to scal...@ornl.gov from the account you received that confirmation email? We have one on record, but it would be good to make sure it's the one with access issues.
