Does this OPUS keyword (p.F15.4.6) refer to the volume of a single fuel rod, or the total fuel volume in the assembly? If my geometry is based on a quarter assembly, should I use a quarter of the fuel volume in the assembly? Thank you.
The volume is used only to convert the mass inventories from the ORIGEN case into volumetric quantities. It should be based on the actual amount of fuel you have in your problem. It can be calculated by dividing the initial mass of fuel (before irradiation) by the fuel density. The default value of VFUEL is based on a metric ton of heavy metal and a density of 10.4 g/cm3. For a calculation using a quarter assembly, the volume should be that for the quarter assembly. The simplest way to get it is using the initial mass in your case and the fuel density.
