A mechanism to render values in test reports

Dear scalatest users,

is there a meachnism to override the rendering of objects appearting in
test reports/error messages other than overriding the `.toString()'
method?

I would like to change the appearance of some complicated object
structures just for test purposes. Not in production code. This often
comes up with scalacheck generated testdata but also in classical
non-generated tests.

Any ideas how to achieve that would be helpful.
