I just learned about the Scala NLP list. Haskell programmer here
thinking of rewriting one of my minor components in Scala to simplify
installation within the GATE or U-Compare frameworks.
It occurred to me that folks on the Haskell list might be interested in
the Scala list and vice-versa since we're both about the functional
programming and both caught in a Pythonic or Java oriented landscape.
You can find out more about these projects at
1. http://projects.haskell.org/nlp/
2. http://www.scalanlp.org/
Unfortunately, Haskell NLP list is a bit quieter, still basically
trying to grow to critical mass. Scala hackers, this could be a good
chance to wave hello and strike up a conversation!
Thanks,
PS. It's tempting to try and engineer a (friendly) rivalry between
the two communities just to shake things up a little :-D

It's nice to meet you all.
What kind of rivalry did you have in mind? :)
