Hey everyone,

we're using Scala and the Play Framework (http://playframework.org) for our web platform, so if anyone is interested in that topic, please let me know. It's quite a new framework, so I guess there is a lot of stuff to learn from each other :)

Looking forward to the next Meetup on May 22nd!

Hey Christian,

any Scala related topic is very much welcome at any time. And if it's about the Play Framework I think the interest is pretty high!

There is no agenda yet for the June meetup, so maybe you want to present there?

Cheers,

Sebastian

Alright, then I will talk a little bit about our experience with Play.

The following possible topics come to my mind. Which would be interesting for you? Or maybe there is something else?

* Database Access via Slick
* Integration with other Web Services (Amazon S3, etc.)
* Refactoring & Action Composition
* Internationalization and SEO

Hi Christian!

That would be great! Do you guys also use the Scala templates?
The "speed" at which the Scala templates get compiled is my main point when using Play for Scala at the moment. The experience brings me back to JSF web development. IMHO it simply does not scale for bigger projects. So for me it would be really interesting how do you guys do it. Faster SSDs? :-)

Looking forward to your talk!

Man, it's like opening a box full of chocolates in front of a kid and asking him to pick only one!

Are you planning on coming to many of our events? If so, then probably it's a good idea not to present all the topics at once.

@Sebastian: Hehe, but I have to point out that I'm not an expert on any of these topics. But we sure learned a lot in the past months.

@Rafael: yes we use Scala templates, and compilation speed definitely is a pain point.
But the template changes compile relatively fast, it's the backend changes that tend to recompile slow.
