I found the following article to be quite a good read:

The author basically does a quick run through of some features in Java that Scala doesn't have, and shows the Scala equivalent. I found the comments an interesting read :-)
I haven't yet started to code my jumble solver in Scala :-( - but my python version is now sings and dances! The things we we do for our workplaces.
