assuming there's interest, i'd like to present a scala adaptation of oleg
kiselyov and ken shan's paper on typed tagless final interpreters
(<http://okmij.org/ftp/tagless-final/JFP.pdf>) next month.

the paper explores techniques useful for implementing typed embedded domain
specific languages (edsl) in an extensible manner without resorting to
generalized algebraic data types, dependent or fancy types. it's the latter
which allows us to port the technique from haskell to scala with limited
modifications.

i've previously presented a haskell version of the talk in the montreal haskell
users group and presented a portion of the scala adaptation at a weekly 'lunch &
learn' at wajam. alex (bergeron) has attended both talks and can provide some
first person perspective to those unsure of the utility/relevancy of the
material.
