I think the AI challenge should be a separate event. It would probably be easier to have a successful AI challenge if it spanned a whole day (during the weekend, for example...).

For smaller evening meetings, the other topics make sense to me :) ...

Le ai challenge ça serait vraiment cool de faire ça une journée de fin de semaine, parce qu'une soirée ça donne à peine le temps de se familiariser avec l'API et de coder des algorithmes de base (A* et autres).

En fait, ce qui serait cool aussi ça serait d'avoir plusieurs classes si on a assez de monde pour pas que les teams plus fortes écrasent complètement les autres.

Pour les dates des rencontres, je propose le 2eme mercredi de chaque mois.

Il me semble qu'il n'y avait pas (trop) de conflits avec d'autres UGs. Ceux qui vont aux UGs Ruby/JavaScript/etc peuvent confirmer ?

Already midway through August...time to prepare next month scala meet-up! Sept 12, 18h...probably at the same cool location :)

As suggested, let's look at code samples and do some code review/analysis...so if you have a piece of code that you would like to improve but don't know how, or if you think you have some awesome scala code to demonstrate, this will be the time!

I've create a repos https://github.com/scala-montreal/code-samples so that you can fork and add samples...or just create gists or scalakata paste and send me the links so I cab add them in the code-samples repo wiki. OR even better, send me your github handle and I can add you as a commiter :)

Since there was not much action on this thread, but lots of action at work, I suggest we postpone the Scala meetup till next month, October 10th. Since the coursera class on functional programming in Scala (https://www.coursera.org/course/progfun) will be on, I propose that it could be our topic for the meetup; either some kind of informal study group or informal discussion on functional programming in Scala.

What do you think?

I'm also following the scala class on coursera. One thing we could do this Wednesday is to watch some of week 4 lectures on the big screen. Other than that, it could be informal discussion (with food and drinks) and/or informal presentation. Sami, could you present how and why Hopper uses Scala?
