My current client, the academic publisher SpringerNature, is using Scala for a significant portion of it's CloudFoundry PaaS-based services, including (but not limited to):

- user management
- search APIs
- click tracking/reporting
- various academic discovery tools

In terms of technologies, Finagle and Scalatra are the major contenders for Scala HTTP services, although there is a bit of Play in there as well.

The department as a whole is hiring polyglot engineers at all levels if anyone is interested in a new role. Personally, they've got the most frictionless deployment platform I've seen in any company (which they presented at the CF Summit keynote last week) . If you're interested, check out: http://joinit.springer.com/

thanks,
david
