Using Scala IDE plugin in eclipse 4.8.0

Is it possible to use the scala plugin in eclipse 4.8.0?

I successfully installed it, even on a clean installation of eclipse 4.8.0, but nothing happened. I'm not able to see any setting under preferences, nor the chance to create a new Scala worksheet/project etc...

Are there plans to update the support of the plugin to Eclipse Photon?
