Having updated to the 2.8-RC7 plugin, the "add scala nature" option is
no longer being presented as an option for existing Java projects.

I can create new scala projects OK, but if I remove their scala
nature, I can't add it again.

The last build I tried was RC1 or RC2, and I think the "add scala
nature" option was available then, but it's ben a while...

Is this verified working with RC7 for other people?

Just tried this out on master-2.8.0.RC7, and it works OK for me.

The only thing I can think of -- could you double check you're working
from the Package Explorer view, and not the Navigator view? We don't
show the Scala menus in that view (although we probably should).

Yup, this in the Package Explorer, ScalsIDE 2.8.0.RC7-t20100630172134

It occurs to me that this might be because I'm using SpringSource
ToolSuite, which is Eclipse 3.5 JavaEE + additional plugins. I note
that the ScalsIDE page recommends the basic version of Eclipse 3.5.

Could ScalaIDE be fighting with other plugins?

That's possible. Can you create a Scala Hello World project from
scratch (ie. New -> Scala Project etc.) successfully?

Cheers,

Yes, that works fine. I can go through the video tutorial without a
hitch. The problem only arises when trying to add the nature to
existing projects.

Sorry, it's just worth double-checking this: around the 2.8 RC1
timeframe we moved "Add Scala nature" from the "Scala" menu to the
standard "Configure" submenu. Did you look in there?

OK, now I feel like a clown... it was indeed in the "Configure" sub-
menu. I didn't think to look there.

Thanks Matt :)

No problem, and don't feel clownish -- the "configure" menu is,
unfortunately, a bit of an obscure place (although necessary to be a
well behaved Eclipse plugin).

An additional place, is to add a entry in the project property panel
(like the Exadel JavaFX plugin) I find it more convenient/visible than
in the popup menu.
It's not a priority, else I provided a patch ;-).
