Hi all,

We updated the roadmap to reflect the latest developments, and changed slightly the release plan we had announced previously: Milestone 2 will be out at the end of this month, and instead of Milestone 3 we'll be pushing for a stable release, roughly aligned with the next major Scala release (2.10.0). Milestone 3 items will be part of the next major IDE release. We felt the amount of new features we have (and that work well for most people) is too good to keep you waiting, or using milestones.

You can find more details on the Scala IDE blog: http://scala-ide.org/blog/state-of-helium.html

thanks,
iulian

Thanks for the update.

Agreed. It all looks good. Great work everyone.

I have one question around support for Java 7. In the past, this was an discouraged configuration for running the IDE[1]. Has this changed now that JDK 7 update 4 is available for Mac from Oracle and the fact that Mountain Lion will be out next week and may not support Java 6 at all. Does anyone know what is the status of Java 6 support in Mountain Lion?

Best,
Ismael

I believe Java 7 should work, please file tickets if you see problems... I fixed a ticket recently that prevented the presentation compiler from using the configured JDK. I haven't switched myself yet, but it's a good idea. I'll try it out.

The blog post that everyone stumbles upon sounds very discouraging, but the only Scala IDE ticket mentioned there has been fixed. We'll write up another post soon, to clarify the status of JDK 7.

Thanks ilulian and the entire team.    Looks good and can't wait for the ScalaTest integration!
