I would like to be a part of a Baltimore/central Maryland group for
Scala practitioners and fans. True, there's a DC group, but I really
and truly don't like driving there. I'm sure that I'm not alone on
that score.

I think that to make this happen, three things might be helpful:

1. Meet regularly, even if we don't have a specific agenda ahead of time

2. Advertise on Scala related mailing lists

3. Reach out to other technical groups in our area

I don't foresee anything happening before New Year's, but I would like
to schedule a get together in Early January.

Is anyone available the week of Jan 9-13?

Where would be a good meeting place? I'm going to suggest either the
Arundel Mills Panera or the Panera on York Road (just north of
Northern Parkway). I live near one and work near the other.

The Panera near Arundel Mills is good for me if it's a week night, although leaving work before 7:00 can be challenging.  I work near BWI airport.  On weekends either one is about equidistant from where I live.  I suspect the Arundel Mills location is more likely to draw more people, because it's reasonable for people in Baltimore to come south and people in DC to come north.

If we time it right, I may be able to stop by and join you some weekend.  My family is still in the York, PA area.

Cool.

Having some meetings in the Towson, White Marsh or somewhere up north
wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea. There are quite a few tech
companies up there and we might be able to lure down some folks from
the York area.

Oh, I didn't know there was much up North.

Towson or Whitemarsh would be nearly impossible for me to make on a weekday.  But I will make every effort on a weekend.

Anyone interested in the $149 group rate for duct/dryer cleaning?

We’re scheduling a dryer vent cleaning with Michael and if anyone else is interested, we can get a group discount. Normally, this service costs $350, but if more people sign up, the price drops to $149 per home! Not cleaning your dryer vent increases the risk of fire in your home because lint and dust build up inside the vents, which can become a serious fire hazard.
We’ve used this service before, and they do an excellent job. (he does duct and chimney cleaning if you need that as well)

If interested, please send me your availability, home address, and phone number via email, and I will add you to the list. Thanks!
