There is such high demand for Scala developers in Bay Area that I don't think an experienced Scala hacker should have much trouble. Opposite is usually true for CloudPhysics, we often have trouble finding available, world-class Scala talent.
For those who are interested in Scala but not yet possessing of experience, then as Sarah said, try to find a project to get your fingers wet. I'd suggest further to pick up any one of the great Scala open source projects out there and start contributing.
