Work hours may vary a bit by site and will be 7.5 hours daily within one of these ranges. 10:00-5:30, 10:30-6:00, 11:00-6:30 We are seeking a passionate CTE to join our after school program team. This role focuses on teaching children about gardening, nutrition, and healthy eating habits in an engaging and interactive manner. The Garden Nutrition Educator will oversee activities that promote hands-on learning in our garden space, encouraging children to develop a deeper understanding of where food comes from and how it contributes to their overall health. Coordinate of scheduling of after school classes. Design age-appropriate lesson plans and activities related to gardening, nutrition, and healthy eating. Incorporate state standards and educational goals into the curriculum. Manage the school garden, including planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and garden development. Ensure the garden is maintained and safe for children to participate in activities. Conduct interactive sessions that connect curriculum across multiple subject matter with students, teaching them about plant life cycles, soil health, and sustainable gardening practices. Demonstrate how to grow and care for various fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Educate children on the nutritional benefits of different foods grown in the garden. Foster a love for gardening and healthy eating through engaging and hands-on activities. Coordinate with school staff, parents, and community members to support the garden program.
Must hold or be eligible for Designated Subjects Vocational Teaching Credential or equivalent Must have at least 3 years of occupational experience, one year of which must be within the last three years to satisfy the recency requirement Letter of Introduction Current Resume Three Letters of Recommendation (from last two years including one from supervisor)
